Lomov is one of the main characters of the play, ‘The proposal’. He is a landowner. He is 35 years old. He wants to marry as early as possible . He chooses Natalya. It is not that he loves Natalya but it is that he can’t wait anymore and Natalya is acceptable girl. He comes to Chubukov’s house with the marriage proposal. But he feels nervous. He can’t say straight. He gets involved in two arguments. The first is about the Oxen Meadows and the second is about the hunting dogs. Lomov stuffers from palpitations Lomov loses his temper very easily. He uses some bad languages. He wants to marry for his personal gain. Finally he succeeds to marry with help of Chubukov. In this way Lomov is found to be hearty but suspicious, selfish and quarrelsome character in the play, The Proposal
