I hope you are fine and doing well in your hostel life. It has been a while since we last met, and I miss you a lot at home. I am writing this letter to tell you about something very special that happened on my birthday.

You will be so happy to know that father has gifted me a beautiful little puppy on my birthday. It was truly the best surprise I could ever imagine! When I came home from school that day, I found a small box tied with a red ribbon on the table. Father smiled and told me to open it. The moment I opened the box, a cute brown puppy jumped out wagging its tail. I was overjoyed!

I have named him “Buddy.” He has shiny brown fur, sparkling eyes, and a tiny black nose. He is very playful and loves to run around the garden chasing butterflies. Every morning, I take him for a short walk, and he follows me happily, wagging his tail all the way. He has become my best companion. Whenever I return from school, he comes running to me and jumps into my arms. His innocent eyes and cheerful nature make everyone at home smile.

Mother also likes Buddy very much. She feeds him milk and bread in the morning and some rice with meat in the afternoon. Father built a small kennel for him beside the garden. At night, Buddy sleeps there peacefully. Sometimes he barks when he hears a noise outside, and I feel proud because he is already learning to guard our home.

You know, Rohan, pets teach us love, care, and responsibility. I have learned to take care of him properly — feeding him on time, bathing him twice a week, and playing with him every day. He has made my life brighter and filled it with joy. I truly understand now why people say dogs are man’s best friends.
