THE KANYASHREE PROJECT
The Kanyashree Project is a social development project. It is undertaken by the women development and social welfare department of the West Bengal Government. It was started in 2011. The purpose of this project is to ensure the study of the girls of West Bengal. Through the help of this project the girls can study to a minimum of H.S. level. In the rural areas , after finishing the study , the children become the victims of child marriage. This project is also helpful to stop this child marriage. The girls who are under the school education will get an annual scholarship of Rs. 500/. The unmarried girls whose ages are 18-19 years will get a one- time scholarship of Rs 25000. The government think that this project will be helpful to reduce the gender bias. It will also be helpful to cut down the number of school dropouts.
